Tsunami, Truthfulness and Obligation

The people of the Asian coastal regions it is said they were without warning, and no warning systems exist. No buoys to monitor the ocean swells of a tsunami therefore no warnings were given, it only took me a few minutes to find warnings from NOAA on its web sites. Warnings were not issued but however potential risk were given because of the earthquakes in that region.
An earthquake with such furry as to displace an island 100 feet, kills up to and possibly beyond 23,000 people millions homeless, injured, widowed, childless.

As my cat slumbers from tryptophan overdose, as soon I will also the Asian people are homeless, widowed, childless, injured, or dead. Viewing the devastations on the evening news I can’t help but wonder how much help our troops would be at this time, if they were not detoured by a lie. Someone should have called their governments, warned them, not just left a obscure possibility of a threat on a website. Officially there were no warnings, no way to monitor the possibility of a horrific tsunami that would take so many lives, last count 23,000+ and growing.

My observations of the great white way is that large numbers of killed in war or tragedy invokes not much more emotion as a tragic drama played on the tv screen. Whether it is 200,000 Iraqi civilians, 24,000 Asians, 2,000 American soldiers it is different .... why? .... it wasn’t 3,000 American civilians, seems self centered to me but still perfectly the Great White Way.

Good ol’ Rummy spilt the beans, showed the cards, told the truth, should we admire him now?
It does little to change my views of Rumsfield’s war, body armor, ‘go with you have not with what you would like’, we got Rummy.

"I think all of us have a sense if we imagine the kind of world we would face if the people who bombed the mess hall in Mosul, or the people who did the bombing in Spain, or the people who attacked the United States in New York, shot down the plane over Pennsylvania and attacked the Pentagon, the people who cut off peoples' heads on television to intimidate, to frighten –– indeed the word 'terrorized' is just that. Its purpose is to terrorize, to alter behavior, to make people be something other than that which they want to be." Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld during a surprise visit to Iraq Christmas Eve 2004, referring to Flight 93.

Reading Rumsfeld’s words he seems to refer to those whom ‘shot down’ Flight 93 were terrorist, as were those who ‘attacked’ the Pentagon. Witnesses who seen Flight 93 go down also seen a military style aircraft, as seen near the Pentagon. Official facts says that Flight 93 passengers took the plane down in self sacrifice, and the Pentagon was hit with a jet liner. It is easy to find the evidence to back what he just said to the soldiers whom listened, that Flight 93 was shot down by a military aircraft belonging to the USA, and that the Pentagon was hit with a missile instead of the official hog wash everyone was told.

Being a vigilant viewer of Sunday morning news programs I will never forget this interview on September 16th, 2001 hearing Cheney in the Tim Russet interview make these statements. I just never thought I would see or hear them again, but the ends of years brings out the wash to sort and separate, even in cooperated US of A.

On the Sept. 16, 2001, edition of NBCs "Meet the Press," Vice President Dick Cheney, while not addressing Flight 93 specifically, spoke clearly to the administration's clear policy regarding shooting down hijacked jets.
Vice President Cheney: "Well, the –– I suppose the toughest decision was this question of whether or not we would intercept incoming commercial aircraft."
NBC's Tim Russert: "And you decided?"
Cheney: "We decided to do it. We'd, in effect, put a flying combat air patrol up over the city; F-16s with an AWACS, which is an airborne radar system, and tanker support so they could stay up a long time ...
"It doesn't do any good to put up a combat air patrol if you don't give them instructions to act, if, in fact, they feel it's appropriate."
Russert: "So if the United States government became aware that a hijacked commercial airline[r] was destined for the White House or the Capitol, we would take the plane down?"
Cheney: "Yes. The president made the decision ... that if the plane would not divert ... as a last resort, our pilots were authorized to take them out. Now, people say, you know, that's a horrendous decision to make. Well, it is. You've got an airplane full of American citizens, civilians, captured by ... terrorists, headed and are you going to, in fact, shoot it down, obviously, and kill all those Americans on board?
"... It's a presidential-level decision, and the president made, I think, exactly the right call in this case, to say, I wished we'd had combat air patrol up over New York.'"

We have payments all of us do, we pay somebody somewhere for something, and always pay the government. Now on top of the Iraq war, policing against our civil rights and freedoms, covert crimes to support government coups, companies to rob our natural resources, still our jobs and our retirement we are paying for cleaning up the oil spill in Alaska.

The Bureau of Land Management has collected just $132 million in bonds from oil and gas companies responsible for more than 100,000 wells on federal lands. The government estimates it costs between $2,500 and $75,000 to cap each well and restore the surface area.
In the past five years, the BLM has spent $2.2 million to clean up 167 wells where operators defaulted on their bonds.
At that average rate of $13,066 per well, the shortfall between the bonds and the actual cleanup costs could leave taxpayers with as much as a $1 billion potential liability if companies reneged on their cleanup responsibilities, the AP analysis found.
The Bush administration this fall quietly shelved an eight-year effort to increase the minimum bond requirements for oil and gas drilling on federal lands.
The current rates were set in 1960, and gas and oil companies are the only federal mineral lease holders that aren't required to post full reclamation bonds. Coal and hard rock mineral companies must post bonds equivalent to the estimated cleanup costs.
Bush administration officials say they don't want high bonds to discourage oil and gas exploration on federal lands in the midst of an energy crunch and believe the risks are minimal given that relatively few companies have reneged on cleanup obligations in recent years.
In the past five years, 17 companies defaulted on their cleanup, causing their bonds to be revoked.

Wonder
